Search Ads, also called Responsive Search Ads are the assets that Google uses to deliver an ad to a user searching for something on Google Search.
The term “Responsive” comes from the idea that the ad can conform to a lot of different intent situations by the searcher.

An example of a responsive search ad being delivered to a user:
This search ad was built using 3 headlines. You can tell because Google inserts the pipe character (“|”) between them.

Elements:
Headlines
- You can supply up to 15
- Max characters is 30 for each
- Shorter headlines will be able to be combined together to fit more headlines/points into one ad. Be succinct!
- Headlines can (and should) also be pinned. It is common to pin your first headline in many cases, especially since it may be the brand name itself.
Display URL
The URL doesn’t have to be the final URL that the user ends up on. That URL may be long and ugly… A display URL should instead communicate to the user what page they might be landing on.
You may use up to TWO “subdirectories” here. (or none at all)
Examples:
- dermend.com
- dermend.com/products/bruise-cream
- dermend.com/reviews
Descriptions
- Supply up to 4 max
- Max length: 90 characters each
- These appear below the clickable headline in black text
